Movie Night
Eva really likes Cathleen's running partner, Tehan. Eva invited Tehan over to watch the Sound of Music and it turned into quite a party. We had the rest of our family, as well as Will's & Eva's piano teacher Julie and Julie's friend (and band mate) Wayne. (For some reason today whenever Eva talks about Wayne she calls him Wayne-dang. I don't think Eva has heard the Willie Dixon song Wang Dang Doodle, but that is certainly how she is remembering Wayne.)
Eva Watching
Fireworks from National Airport
Various years we watch the 4th of July fireworks from different places. Most frequently from the Iwo Jima Memorial. This year we talked about going down to the Mall, but with threats of rain and three kids to contain, we did not make it. We ended up driving to National Airport and heading to the top level of the parking garage. There were 50-100 other people who had the same idea, and it was really not a bad place from which to watch the show. It would not have worked for a picnic, but for quick in and out access (for $4) it was not bad. I brought a tripod, but had the exposure set wrong so the pictures are OK, but not as good as they could have been.
Red Burst
This was one of the high points of the 4th of July fireworks - a bright red/pink triple burst. This was good to see from National Airport, but far more impressive looking down the Mall toward the Washington Monument. Check this out for a MUCH better photo of the same burst from a great vantage point.
